Born in Portsmouth in 1975, Iain’s early life was shaped by a unique blend of diverse environments and experiences. His formative years were spent on Ascension Island, a remote British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific. Surrounded by nature and living a simple life, Iain developed his first sense of self, deeply inspired by the island’s raw, unspoiled beauty.

After receiving a standard British education, Iain traveled widely across Britain, absorbing the varied cultures, identities, and landscapes encountered along the way. This exposure to different ways of life and ever-changing surroundings became a cornerstone of his artistic practice, which provided a sense of stability amidst a life defined by movement and transformation.

Alongside his travels, Iain cultivated a deep interest in culture, literature, science, philosophy, and art history—fields that continue to inform and enrich his work. His art is an exploration of these diverse influences, with a focus on the interplay between identity, the natural world, and the human experience.

Through his practice, Iain aims to capture the interconnectedness of all things, forging an ongoing dialogue between the self and the environment. This pursuit remains central to his creative process, driving his work as it continues to evolve.
